Grimaud is a medieval village perched on a hill with, in his feet, by the sea, a modern lakeside city. Indeed, dominating the Gulf of St Tropez it knew a defensive activity until XVII ° century. But this long history is also read in the paved and flowery streets of the village which wind of the Romanic church in the ruins of the feudal castle.
Its recent history is a visionary and ambitious project: the creation of the lakeside city Port Grimaud by the architect François Spoérry, who began its realization in 1966.
Today Port Grimaud has an international fame and it is one of the most visited places by France with its canals lined with gardens and with typical Provençal houses, where boats come to tie up.
